I've had this itching desire to start blogging for awhile now. I often have these crazy, insane thoughts that I feel the need to share with others; however, I didn't want to be just another blogger with no vision, no direction, writing about whatever comes to mind. So, I've decided to write about something near and dear to my heart - motherhood.
I kind of just fell into the whole thing...or maybe it fell into me? :) I was 21 years old, had just started my senior year of college and was having the time of my life. The consummate party girl, I was seriously alarmed when I found out I'd be trading in my book bag for a diaper bag after graduation. I sort of fell off the map during my final semester. No speaking engagements or public appearances. I went to class only because I wanted to graduate on time. On the rare occasion I did see people, they gave me the "she's getting really fat" look. I don't think most people had any idea what I was hiding beneath my hoodie. When I finally waddled my way onto Commonwealth Avenue during Commencement Weekend, people realized it was a baby and not a beer belly.
Just one month after graduation, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. It must have been the easiest delivery ever (I didn't even get an epidural). I remember a couple of brief moments of pain, but I was only in the hospital for two hours before she flew into the world. And that's when the real work started. Although she was a pretty easy going infant, she's a hellion of a toddler. She looks just like her daddy, but has a 'tude like her mama. Most days I have no idea what I'm doing, I just let love guide me. I guarantee you you'll find this blog funny, enlightening and sometimes even heartwarming. So, buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Signed,
One Fab Mama
